Hi, I'm Jehlisah..

Mother.  Clinical Social Worker.  Educator.  Content Creator.

Growing up, I always felt I was made for more. There was a passion and drive within me that wouldn’t allow me to put in less than one-hundred percent effort into everything I did.

 That doesn’t mean I was perfect, or life was full of rainbows and butterflies, but it does mean I wouldn’t settle for a life of mediocrity. Knowing there was a greater purpose for me, I discovered a love for empowering others around me and created my own business and The Social Work Academy. 

Through the field of Social Work, I have met so many amazing individuals and have developed many different programs.  It truly is a privilege to be able to teach, support and empower others within the field.

I believe in 

vulnerability & transparency

I am not your average Social Worker, educator or content creator.  Most days, you can find me fueled by anxiety and winging all things in life (including motherhood).  

I've worked in the field for over 13 years and have worked in just about every setting and have provided every kind of direct care, though I have to say that management is by far my favorite.  There's something about being able to inspire and shape the future of Social Work that truly lights me up inside.

My passion originated when I was fresh out of undergrad, working my first professional job in a methadone maintenance program.  My first supervisor in the field made sure to tell me multiple times that I had a knack for teaching others and she could see me educating within the field at some point.
